LIST OF PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS
Project Title: EDI Partnership / Implementation – Indonesia (2006-2007)
Objective:
To implement EDI 100% in locations where moves exceeds 1000 per year, feasible
and will continue to be used.
Project Description:
Indonesia has nine (9) ports and eight (8) depots with total volume more than
120,000 Teus per year. This huge number must recorded in equipment movement
system (RKEM) which cover all Maersk vendors both depots and ports. It is quite
difficult and extra time if the movement updated manually in the system.
This project started by setting up all Maersk vendors both depots and ports.
Identifying their problem and challenge, sharing knowledge and manual, giving
technical assistance in certain period and timeline.
This project already completed 100% in whole Indonesia.
All vendors can send thier container movement report by using EDI (CODECO,
COARRI, BAPLIE) instead of using Fax, or even MS Excell report.
Beside inbound EDI, now all depots already use 100% EDI COPARN for container
equipment release Order and one port that use EDI COPARN for container
acceptance.
Now Maersk Line identified as the leader in EDI system in Indonesia and followed up
by other carriers.
Challenge:
It’s quite challenging when we approach our port partners that still under
government control. But after having intensive approach now we can implement
EDI 100% those locations.
Project Title: Booking Validation to Equipment Project (Navigator) (Nov 2007)
Objective:
To compensate inability of GCSS to validate Booking VS Equipment Availability
Project Description:
The number of export shipment in Indonesia is quite huge year by year with total
volume more than 120,000 Teus per year.
One of the issue in Indonesia is Booking system, GCSS, cannot validate equipment
status perfectly. As a result raise some claim regarding equipment shortage but
GCSS still release Booking Confirmation (BC).
This project still on the way since just started in November 2007. Target of this
project will be finished by end of this year as Jakarta as Pilot Project.
This project started by identifying the problem, number of claims, and statistic.
We work together with all vendors since we will show the information in real time.
The project also provide summary information which useful for some departments
like Operations, Capacity, Customer Service Booking to take quick decision. This
decision very useful to avoid any claims, extra effort and cost at Port.

http://apmteam.apmoller.net/sites/INOPS/REPORTS/Navigator.htm
Challenge:
It’s quite challenging to provide 100% accurate information since it still have a
problem if other department not obey the rule in SOP. I take it as deviation in a
project with small impact to process.
Project Title: MePC Cost Audit Project (Dec 2006)
Objective:
To figure out all MEPC cost and ensure it update correctly in system
Project Description:
Indonesia has nine (9) ports with Singapore and Malaysia as Transhipment Ports.
The total volume of export more than 120,000 Teus per year. GCSS will validate the
shipment if it has product in MEPC. Line management quote MEPC cost in MARS
when create tarrif.
This project rise since i curious in some cost which not update correctly by other
party in Area. The project already started since 2006 and have complete in three
months. Today my staff continue this project by more digging breakdonw of MEPC
cost.
The project also provide summary information which useful for Operations and Cost
Control. Now we do evaluate and cost monitoring every quarter to get correct cost
in system.
Challenge:
It’s quite challenging if we want to know the complete figure since it relates with a
lot of systems and people with different departments.
Project Title: Export Detention Project
Objective:
• To monitor and consolidate equipment usage in Customer premises by
charging detention fee for equipment usage that over the free time.
• Create easy tools for calculation and reporting of detention fee.
Project Description:
Indonesia Operations found downfall of export. It happened due to Customers pick
up empty containers from depot to nominate to particular feeder. Due to some
reasons, Customers cannot utilise the shipment by keping the container at their
premisses or even late in deliverying the cargo to terminal over the free time limit.
Relate with this fact, Indonesia Operations decided to setup a project to handle
this issue. The project started by identifying the problem, having sistematic
discussion with other department, create a tools and SOP and also provide web site
for archieve in case there is any request of the report
Export detention is a way to control equipment usage by charging equipment usage
fee that over the freetime. The cost for one size and type is different to another.
Benefit:
Now Inadonesia Operations has a tool for calculating and producing report, web
site and easy information for analysing tools. We gain a lot of income as a result of
this project.
Project Title: Integrated Positioning System (IMPULSE Nov 2008)
Objective:
To manage equipment distribution strategy in long term and reduce positioning
cost estimate US$ 1,000,000 by integrating all aspects
Project Description:
In a year, we spend roughly USD 5,500,000 totally for empty positioning
arrangement all Indonesia. This YTD 2008 actual cost for positioning is USD
4,528,120. From this project, we estimate to gain 10% efficiency from reducing
waste and leaning the process. This sum up to a potential cost reduction up to USD
1,000,000 annually. Aside from this tangible benefit, we have also the intangible
benefits such as reducing working hours due to less time to spend and perform the
process.
We define into three blocking issues:
• System and Database
• Procedures
• Vendors
Challenge:
The project still on going process and the challenge is because business nature in
some areas is not same. Long beucracy at Customs and ports.
